ABOUT US

Janet and I have both had successful careers prior to alpacas.  Janet is an RN working in Labor and Delivery and I own a full-line vending company.  Although it requires a little juggling,  we      have been able to combine our "work" careers with our alpacas.  We are blessed to have two wonderful grown children and one fabulous son-in-law.

Our farm is home to 20+ alpacas; Dolly and Bear, our two Great Pyrenees Guardian Dogs; Uno and Dos, our barn cats; and Charlie and Holly, our son's beagles.  It is a place filled with unexpected joys and lots of happiness.  (Animals will do that for you.)

Janet and I came to alpacas from opposite directions.  Because of Janet's interest in the fiber arts and specialty fibers, we decided to visit an alpaca ranch owned by Susie and Dave Belt, Editor of Alpaca's Magazine, on a trip to Colorada. Being a dutiful husband, I went along. It was a life changing experience.  We left Colorado knowing that we were soon to be alpaca ranchers...we just didn't know exactly when or how. Simply put, the alpacas stole my heart.  They provided a "sense of calm" to my life.

Along our journey we had the opportunity to visit lots of alpaca farms and meet lots of wonderful people.  At each place we visited, we were able to learn more about how we wanted our alpaca operation to be set up.  Ultimately we purchased our first alpaca, Boerne, from Wade and Debbie Presley of Copper Hill  Ranch.  While we boarded our alpacas at Copper Hill, we were  so fortunate to have Wade and Debbie as our mentors.  They allowed us to be very involved in the everyday world of raising alpacas.  Without their help, we would not be where we are today.

One of the wonderful aspects of alpaca ranching is the people you meet and their willingness to share their experiences.  We have experienced the joys and heartaches of raising alpacas.  But every step of the way, we have had amazing friends to lean on.  Janet and I feel an obligation to "pay it forward" by acting as mentors and resources for other new alpaca ranchers.  You can expect honest answers to your questions from us.
